AI in Engagement – Reshaping Organizational Ethos

A sizable number of employees at all levels of the organization are toiling away at their job due to lack of motivation, unpleasant team dynamics or simply, an absence of a sense of higher purpose. No surprises then that employee engagement has become one of the biggest challenges confronting businesses today. Research by Gallup stated, 50% of US workers do not feel engaged at work calling the state of affairs an "employee engagement crisis”.

Employee engagement encompasses creating a 360-degree holistic work environment that promotes job clarity, skill development, recognition, and mental health. Companies have been trying to find out ways to monitor, manage and improve metrics associated with engagement; many forward-thinking leaders have thus introduced AI as a means to tackle the mounting issue.

Employing artificial intelligence to improve engagement delivers effective results in several areas such as providing round the clock assistance and support, engaging remote and on-site employees, monitoring organization-wide performance in real-time, personalizing learning and development activities and addressing conflict resolution.

Instead of relying on a sporadic system to monitor professional satisfaction and performance, AI is helping management in understanding what is working and what’s not. Through analysis of employee communication in real-time, AI is able to leverage natural language processing and sentiment analysis to unravel employee’s state of mind and engagement levels. It helps by gauging how are employees feeling? What are their views about the company? The kind of emojis being used in chats and so on. Using such analysis, AI can provide insights into the general mood of employees, their satisfaction with the workflow, and their relationships with their teams and managers. AI can, in fact, flag the smallest challenges employees are facing in the workplace.

Going further, AI takes the load off management in understanding team-dynamics and fostering relationships. Using the employee data, AI can recommend which employees are most suitable together based on similar characteristics and values, to achieve the desired outcomes. Research has shown that companies that promote collaborative working are five times as likely to be high performing.

AI even has the potential to assess biometric data—fingerprints, eye scans, and similar data—to assess engagement which empowers HR professionals to engage in swift action and surface the type of personalized recommendations that could never be picked up via traditional methods.

With the help of AI-powered data analytics, management can develop a structured training program based on a case-to-case basis leading to a better blend of the learning program, employee efficiency and engagement. Adaptable learning courses can help employees in real-time and keep them hooked to their jobs.

All aspects combined together with predictive analysis can help determine engagement levels and take steps in real-time to solve engagement issues, reduce the attrition rate and boost employee productivity.

With the capabilities offered by AI & NML technologies, companies will get better at hiring and engaging employees in the long term. AI-based algorithms and analysis will pave way for better understanding of human behavior that can drive decisions in favor of improved engagement metrics.
